In Memory of Cornelia Sieck (1952 - 2021)
Story
This page has been set up in honour of our mother, Cornelia Sieck, who passed away peacefully on the 18th April 2021 after a 3-year battle with cancer. As per her wishes, she would like you to think of her passing as a time to celebrate life and help others. She was a strong humanitarian and advocate, especially for asylum seekers and refugees.
In recent weeks Cornelia commented on how well supported she had been by government-funded palliative care services. This made her reflect further on those who don't have any formal support. She wondered where asylum seekers turn for help when faced with health challenges. We therefore decided to set up this donation page for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) in honour of her passing.

ASRC Footscray (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre)
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is both a place and a movement.
As an independent not for profit organisation, we are owned and run by our community. Our programs empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well-being. As a movement, we mobilise and unite communities to create lasting social and policy change for people seeking asylum in Australia.
We assist over 7,000 people seeking asylum each year from our centres in Footscray and Dandenong, Victoria.
